Books are available for check out for 28 days (four weeks) while the center’s digital materials (Movies and Games) are available for check out for 3 days. The library contains many books written for children and teens to help them better understand their special health care needs as well as books for their siblings. Some materials are available in Spanish. Some DVDs are available in Sign Language or are closed-captioned.
In addition to books, the library has information and resources on guardianship, camps, home modifications, assistive technology, community organizations and more.

Lending Library Check-out Policy
Most of the material in the center’s library including books, CDs, documentaries and medical DVDs, are available to check out. Some medical text can only be used inside of the center. Staff members are available to help you get more information for your personal use.
Families, providers and community members can check out up to three items at one time. Families are encouraged to visit the center to check out the materials they are interested in. For those unable to come to the center, please call us at 414-266-8432.
Library materials can be returned directly to the Daniel M. Soref Family Resource Center (FRC) inside Children’s Wisconsin. The FRC is located across from the gift shop. If the FRC is closed, the library materials can be placed into the book slot outside of center’s front doors. Postage paid mailers are also available. Contact us at 414-266-8432 for more information.
Materials can be renewed by stopping at the center or calling us at 414-266-8432.
If a patron does not return the checked out material, the center will send out a reminder via email or the U.S. Postal Service that the items should be returned. Patrons who have not returned overdue materials will be unable to check out additional books, CDs or other items until the overdue items are return.
