Library Resources

The Southeast Regional Center for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs has a lending library with family-friendly resources about a wide variety of topics including advocacy, growth and development, parenting, discipline, safety, emotional support, diagnosis-specific topics, cultural competence, communicating with providers, futures planning and more. Books, and audio tapes are available for check out for up to four weeks. Videos may be checked out for one week. A few restrictions apply. Some materials are also available in Spanish and the library contains many books written for children and teens that can help them understand their disability or a disability of a sibling.

Newsletters include Parenting Works, "UCP Respite News", and "DisAbility Solutions" - a resource for individuals interested in Down Syndrome and related disorders as well as other newsletters from local community organizations. Magazines such as "Exceptional Parent" and "Cerebral Palsy" are also available.

Our library has many files with numerous resources on guardianship, camps, home modifications, assistive technology, choosing child care, and community organizations. Staff can assist individuals with photocopying.

Library materials can be returned directly to the Center on the first floor of the hospital or in the drop boxes located on the first floor of Children's Hospital, outside of the 2nd floor in the parking structure and outside the Clinics Building. Postage paid mailers are available for individuals who live outside of the immediate area.
