Welcome to the Southeast Regional Center Support Group Database. While there is a broad spectrum of family support options, many families enjoy participating in support groups. These groups, both formal and informal, provide individuals with the opportunity to give and receive emotional support, share common experiences, and learn about resources.
To search our database of support groups simply find the group and region you'd like to search for, then click 'Search'. If you are unable to find an appropriate group or if you prefer one to one support, you can contact Parent-to-Parent of Wisconsin by clicking here.
To perform a new search click here. The Southeast Regional Center hopes that this database will help you identify a family support group in your area that will meet your needs. If no group exists in your community, you may want to expand your search to a broader geographic area or to a more general support group. Two other options are included in this database that may meet your needs. These include online support groups, also called listservs, or contact information about national organizations that could provide you with information about parent to parent activities they sponsor. Or, you might consider starting a group to meet the needs of your family and others in your community. This takes time and effort, but can certainly be done. For more information on how to start your own support group, click here.
The Southeast Regional Center has made every effort to include current, reliable and accurate information about these family support groups. However, because support groups come and go and leadership and meeting times changes, we cannot guarantee that all of the information is current. Therefore, before attending or joining a family support group, we strongly advise you to contact the group to verify that the information provided in this database is still current.
If you have information that is more current than what is provided on the Website please contact us so that we can update our records. If you would like to suggest a group for inclusion in the Family Support Group Database, we welcome that information as well.
When participating in a support group, please use your best judgment about the information you share about your child, as well as information shared by others about diagnoses, treatments or personal experiences. Remember, every child is different and family experiences and expectations are different.
We cannot guarantee the content or the quality of the information that is shared. Support groups are not a substitute for medical care and should not provide medical or psychological advice. Before you use any information that you find through a family support group, we encourage you to discuss and verify it with your physician or therapist.
